Dear Colleagues: As the summer comes to a close and we prepare together for the coming academic year, I wish to take this opportunity to welcome you all back to Georgetown. On behalf of all the members and the management, we would like to extend our warmest welcome and good wishes! Welcome letters are letters written to politely greet and introduce others to an organization. Asset returns in the coming years probably will be lower than in the past, which will constrain the payout from the endowment, and tuition (at the Kennedy School and across higher education) has outpaced many people’s incomes in recent years, which means that we need to keep future increases in check. Later in the fall we will open the New College Theater – an embodiment of our determination that the lively arts find an even livelier home at Harvard. I wanted to set that tone at the beginning of the year by creating welcome notes using Scholastic’s Word Workshop. Our Center for Public Leadership offers a collection of co-curricular leadership development activities, and its affiliated faculty conduct research on leadership and decision making. They could be sent to new students in a school, new employees in a company, attendees of a conference, etc. CUSt was established by JKUAT in partnership with UN-Habitat, to guide in research, training and development of innovative ideas that will help tackle the inherent complex and diverse issues in the urban setting.
